Below are some of the most commonly asked questions regarding standard photo sessions. If you have any additional questions that aren’t listed below contact me and I’ll do my best to address any questions or concerns you might have.
HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL BE TAKEN DURING THE PHOTO SESSION?
There is not a limitation set on the number of photos taken during each session, however, you should anticipate seeing a minimum of 15-20 edited images per photo session that you reserve.
HOW LONG WILL THE PHOTO SESSION LAST?
Most photo sessions last 1-2 hours.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE INCLUDED IN THE PHOTO SESSION FEE?
Up to 5 family members are included in the session fee. Additional family members may be added for an additional $25 per family member.
WHERE WILL THE PHOTO SESSION TAKE PLACE?
Photo sessions can take place at your home or at a location in the immediate Orlando area. On ocassion, especially for infant photos, I do photo sessions at my home where I can guarantee good natural and have immediate access to a variety of options for backgrounds and props. We can discuss location once a deposit has been made. Additional rates may apply to photo sessions outside of the immediate Orlando area.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING TO THE PHOTO SESSION?
You are not required to bring anything specific to the photoshoot. Be sure you are dressed, or bring with you, the attire you wish for you, the children, or baby to wear during the photoshoot. Most newborn & infant photos are taken unclothed but you may bring a special outfit, blanket or toy.
CAN RELATIVES OR OTHER CHILDREN BE PRESENT DURING NEWBORN PHOTO SESSIONS?
Yes. Though it’s not required, I am open to a family presence in photos. Let me know your expectations and we can discuss ideas of how to best capture family moments during your pregnancy and/or shortly after the baby arrives. If there are more than five family members you may be subject to additional session fees due to the time needed to capture photos with additional family.
WHEN DO YOU TAKE NEWBORN PHOTOS?
The baby is considered newborn for the first 1-2 weeks after birth. I have had the best experiences photographing babies between 5-10 days old, when the baby is still small, curly, and sleepy. It is advised that you contact me while you are still pregnant and ensure I am aware of you due date. Once you place a deposit for photos keep me informed if any changes occur with the due date so that I can make arrangements in my schedule to photograph the baby in the first days after birth. I encourage parents to keep me on the email/phone list so I’m aware the baby is born and can begin planning to schedule time to meet with you.
DO YOU DO MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY?
Yes, I am open scheduling maternity photo sessions. Contact me if you are interested in documenting any of the stages of your pregnancy.
WHEN SHOULD MATERNITY PHOTOS BE TAKEN?
Maternity photos may be taken at any stage of the pregnancy, however, the most ideal time is between 30-35 weeks.
WHAT STYLE OF MATERNITY PHOTOS WILL YOU TAKE?
I want you to be comfortable in capturing moments during pregnancy, so I am open to taking the style you feel comfortable with. We can discuss ideas before the photoshoot.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY PHOTOS?
You can anticipate reviewing edit proofs within 1-2 weeks following the photoshoot, but often times sooner. Printed photos take 1 additional week to allow for printing and shipping. Any photo or canvas prints requiring editing may take 2-3 weeks following the photo session to account for editing, printing, and shipping time. I will keep you informed as orders are processed to update you on the status of any photo orders.
WILL I RECEIVE DIGITAL COPIES OF MY PHOTOS?
Yes, you will receive web resolution digital copies of all photos that may be posted online or emailed, however, they are not large enough to print. You are offered an option to purchase the exclusive rights to all high resolution images by purchasing the DVD that will permit you to print larger prints yourself or use any of the photos for personal use. It is suggested that larger prints be ordered through me so I can ensure you will receive the best quality archival prints.
CAN I SHARE PHOTOS FROM MY PHOTO SESSION ONLINE?
You will be provided with low resolution digital copies of all photographs from your photo session. You are granted permission to share these photographs online so long as credit is given to Amanda Kern Photography along with a link to my web site or blog.
CAN I PRINT THE PHOTOS MYSELF?
Web resolution images that come with the session fee are not large enough to print. If you purchase low resolution images will enable you to print your photos up to 4″x6″ size. You are given permission to reproduce copies of the photos for personal use only. If you wish for larger sizes you will need to purchase the DVD option with high resolution copies in order to order your own larger prints. However, I do still encourage ordering larger prints through me so I can ensure the best quality prints.
WHAT DOES THE PHOTO BOOK FEE COVER AND HOW MUCH WOULD ADDITIONAL BOOKS COST?
The book fee covers the cost of one 8”x10” book and the design fees factored into the time needed to create the book. Additional copies of the book may be purchased after the book has been created. The estimated price of additional books could range from $30-100 depending upon the final number of pages in the book.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE PHOTO BOOK TO ARRIVE?
If purchased, the book will take approximately 4-6 weeks to create, print, and ship. You will be kept informed of the status of book orders made.
WHEN IS MY DEPOSIT DUE?
Your deposit is your retainer needed in order for me to reserve your time in my schedule for your photoshoot. There is no set date it is “due”, however, it should be sent as soon as possible along with the returned signed contract in order to reserve a date. A date will not be scheduled until a deposit is received.
DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH WEDDINGS?
Although I am not pursuing wedding photography, if you enjoy my work and would like to commission me to photograph a wedding let me know. Due to my current schedule, I will only pursue wedding events on a limited basis to those seriously interested in my work.
DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH EVENTS?
Although I do not pursue event photography (like birthdays, parties, births, graduations, sporting events, etc) , I am open to considering event photography opportunities as my schedule permits. If I am unable to fit your event into my schedule I am closely networked with many other photographers that would be equally interested in an event photography opportunity. If you have an event you need photographed contact me and I’ll do my best to see if it’s something that can be worked into my schedule, and if not I’ll put you in the hands of another trusted photographer.
WHAT WOULD YOU CHARGE FOR EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY?
Event photography would be determined based on the duration of the event, location, and photography expectations. Let me know your needs and if your event works into my schedule I will send you a proposal with pricing options.
WHAT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DO YOU NEED FROM ME BEFORE THE PHOTO SESSION?
Once you have paid a deposit I will encourage you to let me know any specific requests of types of photos you wish for me to try to take during the photoshoot.
