Last month I had the opportunity to meet a pretty inspring teenager, 13 year old Alex Schon. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to photograph him as a part of some work I’m doing for local pediatrician, Dr. Q. I’ve spent many years taking my own children to her office to be cared for and have admired Alex’s picture on the wall with a special note from his parents to Dr. Q. – I didn’t know much about him then, but boy have I been so inspired and touched to help capture a few moments for his family and for Dr. Q and learn more about his inspiring story. Alex was born at 34 weeks with Cloverleaf Syndrome, a rare craniofacial syndrome. He was not expected to survive his birth let alone live to be a teenager – but he’s now 13 and has endured countless surgeries and medical challenges but he’s become quite independent, is such a smart kid and has the best personality and spirit!
Alex’s family began The Alexander Foundation to support other families who have children with this rare condition. If you’re interested in learning more about his inspiring story or wish to support the cause visit his web site:

Alex thanks for making me smile…you were so much fun to photograph and I can’t wait for your family and Dr. Q to see the rest of your photos! Keep inspiring us…the world needs more kids with spirits like Alex’s!
