It seems as though I blinked and the summer has passed us by. This past week Hope began the first grade. I must admit that the last few weeks she’s been anxiously awaiting school to start. So on the first day of school it was no surprise that she was excited. I found myself jotting down some of the cutest little things she said on the first day of school:
“I can’t wait until I start first grade today!”
“Some of the stuff in first grade is going to be kinda hard I think.”
And shouting, “I’m going to first grade! I’m going to first grade!”
Though I enjoyed every bit of having her home this summer, I’m equally glad to see her return to school – knowing how much she enjoys learning and spending time with her friends. And of course, Hope has been busy just in the last week. At the meet the teacher she was assigned an at home project that you all can check out in flickr.
The “white” bus
Last year Hope wrote her kindergarten teacher a note, that let us all know how much she wanted to ride the bus. I must admit that between problems with consistency in all of our schedules and just the simple fact that we weren’t ready to let her ride the bus – that it all caused us to hold off last year from allowing her to ride the bus. She has continued to want to ride the bus so we’ve decided to give it a shot. On the first day of school she rode the “white” bus. Of course, it’s not really white – it’s just the name they give it at school to let the students know what bus to get on. After riding on the bus two days she seems to still enjoy it, though she has claimed some of the kids are really loud on the bus.
So it’s bound to be another interesting school year, I’m anxious to see how much she grows and learns this year!
